Amid the hustle and bustle of holiday preparations, it’s enjoyable to anticipate the exciting possibilities that the next year holds for the furniture and design world. Striving to always provide a refreshing retail experience, Copenhagen’s collection of contemporary furniture is attentively curated, and we remain dedicated to showcasing artistic, functional design suitable for any lifestyle. With this philosophy in mind, we’ve asked three of our Copenhagen interior designers – Katayoon Aghili, Maurice Brantley, and Will Joffroy – what furniture and design trends they think will be popular in 2025. From the comforting embrace of classic designs to the freeing thrill of bold experimentation, our designers have curated a diverse range of inspiring trends.
Though this design trend started gaining traction last year, Joffroy says “curvy furniture is only becoming more popular, and consumers are looking for more options in this category.” Both of his fellow designers agreed, with Aghili explaining “more homeowners are looking for versatility, and seating with softer angles or curves provides that – armless settees and chairs will be more in demand as well. A great example of this trend is the Gaia sectional with its curved peninsula.” Indeed, this more fluid silhouette has a naturally inviting feel that many will be seeking for their living rooms in particular. “A pair of Ancona chairs from Incanto swivels with smooth curves and compliments the rounded corners of the Momo sofa and chaise from Ego Italiano,” Brantley says, an Italian-made pairing that promises comfort without sacrificing style. Joffroy’s suggestions for a “less rigid look” include the Anzio sofa and Enzo sectional, both of which blend soft curves with plush cushioning that radiate relaxation.
“As far as color trends, I’m seeing deep, moody colors gaining in popularity, from rich purples and blues to earthy mustards and greens,” Aghili says. These tones have a unique ability to create an inviting, down-to-earth feel that many are seeking for their homes, while still adding depth and vibrancy. The mustard fabric of the Prato sofa, for example, combines with walnut wood side panels for an infusion of textured warmth, while the earthy olive-green leather of the Dionne bed surrounds you in a subtle, comforting cradle. The beauty of these moodier hues is their ability to work with a variety of other colors, from staple neutrals to pastel tones like sage green, lavender, and dusty rose. All in all, this design trend seeks to create comforting spaces with a bit of excitement.
In contrast to previous years, many homeowners are embracing maximalism over minimalism, with a focus on curating personalized spaces full of self-expression. Our designers excitedly described this experimental trend, with Joffroy advising us to “be on the lookout for bold color palettes and geometric patterns, especially in the rug category. Citak’s Bayshore Granada and Bayshore Sparkle rugs combine dynamic patterns with vibrant color mixes that add a defining energy to a space.” Brantley agrees, expressing that “infusion of color continues to be a welcome addition for interior design as we bridge the decade of the 2020s. A signature upholstery accent piece like the Namy Bergere occasional chair from Ego Italiano offers a bold and fun color statement.” And since Namy’s pattern is unique to each piece, its dynamic design is truly one of a kind, supporting the growing desire for furnishings that spark personal joy. Those interested in playing with this more maximalist look should feel free to start with a few accessories or smaller furniture items to experiment with.
“Biophilic design is still trending in 2025,” Joffroy starts, referring to the philosophical concept of boosting our connection with nature. “Be sure to incorporate plants, biophilic-inspired artwork and even fabrics that bring the outdoors into the interior of the home.” For many, just these small environmental touches can boost both the productivity and relaxation of any given space, by providing visual beauty and satisfying the innate need to feel surrounded by life. Try hanging a lush wall art like Bluebells above a desk or reading nook to feel a touch of sunlight as you work or outfit your bedroom with the 100% solid bamboo Nani bed for a larger natural presence.
Brantley also points out the wide variety of options available for those seeking a biophilic aesthetic; “With this trend only growing in popularity, Copenhagen has many welcome selections and environmentally friendly solutions to offer the design consumer in 2025. I find a blend of organic and manufactured design elements can easily create a connection to nature; one can mix leather with fabric upholstery or solid woods with the many selections of eco-veneers offered by ALF Italia to suit their design preferences.”
The popular Danish brand Skovby implements a variety of sustainability practices with their wood dining tables, including Brantley’s personal favorite: “The Brynn table has an oiled walnut top, smooth edges, and conceals leaves that easily pop from a beautifully designed pedestal base.”
Joffroy excitedly exclaims that “2025 should prove to be an interesting time for modern and contemporary furniture,” with its diversity of trends that show an ever-growing curiosity in the depth of interior design.
